Congregation Kol Am Oneg Instructions

 INSTRUCTIONS

One family per week has the honor of sponsoring the Oneg Shabbat. If you are a single membership, you share the honor with another single membership.  In order to share the honor among all of our congregants, we have assigned the schedule listed.

Please note the following:

  1. The location for services is 59 Broad Street, unless otherwise noted.
  2. The sponsoring family is asked to help setting up / cleaning up following the service.
  3. If you need to change your date, please contact a member of the committee as soon as possible so your date can be rescheduled.  (emails listed below)
  4. A member of the Oneg Committee will notify you either by phone or email prior to the Shabbat you are sponsoring.

Family sponsoring the Oneg is to bring the following:

NOTE: All food must be Kosher. That means a K or U must be on the item. In addition, you may not bring any serving pieces, platters, bowls, etc. from your home. We will supply them at the synagogue. Recommended stores are Wegman's, Shoprite, Stop N Shop, Costcos, Sam's

  • One Challah, cake and/or cookies for up to 30 people.
  • 3- one liter bottles of drinks such as: 1 regular cola, 1 diet cola, 1 non cola,  bottled water, apple juice;
  • CKA will supply paper napkins and paper cups.
  • It is fine to bring fruit but it will have to be washed and cut up at the synagogue kitchen.
  • A total cost is recommended to be no more than $30.00.

From Sept 5, 2014 thru Mar 27, 2015 Oneg supplies and food must be dropped off at  the Temple any weekday, before 5pm, of the week that you are sponsoring or before 2pm on Fri.  The Temple closes at 2 pm on Friday and we are not allowed to carry in items after sundown, which will be before 7:00pm from Sept 5 thru Mar 27.  There is a magic marker in the kitchen and everything you bring in should be marked CKA.  Beverages can be put in the refrigerator.  Since we are sharing space with a Conservative/Orthodox Congregation we must follow their rules regarding carrying of items on Shabbat. You can set up the Oneg when you come on your Friday night.

We are aware that not everyone will be able to do this drop off so we have established an  alternative option to the drop  off times at the Temple. The sponsoring member can drop the refreshments off at one of the committee members' homes and we will get the food items delivered at the prescribed times.
Please mark your calendars now!  If you have any questions, please contact a member of the committee.  You will receive a reminder call/email prior to your date.
